I've spent a lot of time dreaming, recently. Dreaming about future homes, holidays, but mostly about the next steps in my business. I set myself goals every year to help me get a little closer to The Dream and help me define what The Dream actually is. I wanted to write a little post about people who's businesses and journeys are inspiring me in this dream, whilst I'm still getting there myself.
1. Anna Rifle Bond of Rifle Paper Co.
Maybe this is the one you could have guessed, because I suspect it's one on a lot of other's people's list too, because Rifle Paper Co is the epitome of goals! I'd love to have the joy of making the design decisions, but with other people to worry about the printing, manufacturing and marketing, etc. The brand is completely distinguishable, unique and inspiring.
2. Tuesday Bassen
I love Tuesday. I think she is so cool. I've followed her for what feels like forever and I love that she is pushing the boundaries of what an illustrator can do and be. She has taken her brand beyond prints and pins and created a whole fashion brand around her creativity and illustrations that is super empowering and exciting. Unfortunately, her unique brand got a little too much attention from a certain "Fast Fashion Retail Giant" - so perhaps fighting copyright battles is one of the down sides of The Dream. Her insta stories show snapshots into her shop in LA - Friend Mart - as well as her insanely cute herd of sausage dogs and her cute little home, which makes me think I'd be very alright with that life, please.
3. Meg Gleason of Moglea
I don't know much about Meg, I just gaze in wonder at her Instagram page. Her designs are so special and so fkn tasteful and most are painted by hand (UM, WOW) She has a team to do some of the painting, cutting, packing and shipping, whilst she works on the next collection. Dreamy sigh.
4. Sophie of Oh My Clumsy Heart
I have admired Sophie's designs, her blog, and the way she runs he business Oh My Clumsy Heart for years now. Not only are her designs beautiful, the whole concept and message tying her brand together is admirably solid, and her marketing strategies are always so clever, unique and ahead of the game. I'd love to reach Sophie's level of knowledge and brilliance one day.
