I love organising my time. I am an inherently dis-organised person, so I have trained myself to get a little obsessive about writing things down. I love hearing how people organise their time and become more productive, so I thought I would share the simple method I use to stay on top of things, too!
1. Start with a Calendar
I use Google Calendar to mark out exactly what is happening in my life and when. I use different colours for life stuff, business stuff (like deadlines, launches, post days..) blog posts, newsletters and so on. I can check this daily to see where i'm *at*, and what's coming up. It's hardly a revolutionary strategy but it's simple, and most importantly it syncs to my phone so I can access it at pretty much all times.
2. The 2 To-Do Lists
I actually designed my range of to-do lists based on this method, which I use pretty much every day. Some people like to use fancy lists sectioned by priority or urgency or importance, but i'm a simple and straightforward write-it-down-and-go kinda gal.
Firstly, I use one of my A5 "big" lists to act as my super-bumper-jolly "main" list. This houses every single thing my poor little sieve-brain can think of that I need to do, so that I don't forget any of it.
Then, I use my sticky-back daily to-do lists to allocate myself some tasks to tackle each day. I can only use the number of lines available on each sheet, so I can't overload myself with tasks, simply pick a reasonable amount of tasks to put on the list each day from the "big" list. Then i can stick it to my notepad/diary/wall wherever to check on it.
The benefit of doing this has been that I am not overwhelmed by the enormity of the "big" list. Instead, I can just set aside the "big" list and just focus on today's tasks. Also, I can't even describe the satisfaction of not only TICKING OFF EVERYTHING ON YOUR TO-DO LIST that day, but also getting to check-off tasks twice on each list. What a sense of accomplishment.
What methods so you use to stay organised? Anything I should try?
P.s - if you want to try out the way I do to-dos, you can grab a daily to-do list FREE when you purchase a "big" A5 list in my shop. Just add both to your basket and enter 'BLISS' at the checkout. You're welcome . ;)
