There's nothing quite like the British experience of Hallowe'en: forgetting all about it until you catch sight of a hideous display in Sainsbury's; carving a lacklustre pumpkin that looks nothing like the masterpiece you found on Pinterest; being visited by precisely two groups of trick-or-treaters (one of whom were just there for the free sweets) and eating the rest of the bumper-pack of Haribo to yourself.
But never fear! I'm here with an easy-peasy, super-chic, mess-free halloween pumpkin DIY that will add a bit of spooky, cheeky, punnery to your extravagant Hallowe'en shindig (if you're chanelling that all-American spirit) or just a bit of autumnal festivity whilst you're watching Hocus Pocus with the lights off.
So, let's get to it! You will need:
- a pumpkin
- a relatively sharp pencil
- a marker (I used a pentel brush sign pen for easy details, but a sharpie would work great)
Choose a suitably spooky pun, and draw it out on your pumpkin with the pencil. I went with "Here for the BOOs" (get it?!) but here's some inspiration to get you started:
- Squad GHOULS
- Creep It Real
- Witch, Please
- If you've got it, haunt it
- Life is GOURD.
Fill in your pencil lettering with your marker, and let it dry. For real. You're done.
Adorn with fallen leaves, skulls, cobwebs or candles and admire your spooktacular sass.
